What is the purpose of this adapter? Seems to be the same connector size and pin out as the OBD2 DLC. I scanned a 2002 Grand Cherokee with and without this adapter and could not see any difference in modules detected or available tests.

    Thanks.

Might have circuitry inside for advanced ABS/SRS functions/access. I read something about it somewhere.

Supposedly its a CAN enabled connector for Chrysler. At least the MaxiDas calls it Chrysler CAN connector. Im pretty sure its the same. Try on a newer CAN enabled Chrysler with and without the connector and see what happens. Would be interesting to know.

Thanks. I searched quite a bit but only reference I can find says "for Chrysler vehicles from 1996-2000", however that was on a Launch forum but it did mention for ABS/SRS. This could be why I don't see any difference using on 2002. I will try on newer CAN vehicle as suggested if I get the chance.
